The Slack Story

The Slack Story
Johnny Rodgers, Jamie Rosenfield, and Ali Rayl at one of many Slack company parties.

Building Slack is a project from Ali Rayl and Johnny Rodgers, two of the original employees of Slack. Between the two of us, we were involved in nearly everything the company did at every step of the journey. Plenty has been written about what Slack (the company) built and how Slack (the product) has changed the workplace forever. The stories that haven't been told are the ones about how we, along with so many others, built Slack.

What to expect

We'll send you new content when we have something to send, whenever that might be. By subscribing, you'll get an occasional, unexpected surprise from us in your inbox. If we choose to put ourselves on a content calendar with a more frequent and predictable release schedule, we'll let you know so that you can decide whether you want to stick with us.

How to reach us

We know what's interesting to us, but we may not know what's interesting to you. Reach out at buildingslack@gmail.com if there's something from the early days you'd like us to cover.

(Also, we see a lot of our former colleagues on this list. Hi! Miss you. If you think we got something wrong, or if you want to share some photos with us, or whatever, please drop us a line!)
